AlpSDDS is an automated system that detects the presence of defects on the surface of moving materials, pinpoints their position along the length of the product further enabling automatic positioning at the identified areas to carry out opportune rectifications; the system also makes information about the defects available for statistical purposes, analysis of the process and quality assessment.
AlpSDDS is based on a neural network that analyses the images acquired by the onsite devices and detects the presence of defects on the surface of the material. Its modular design allows for the use of up to four HD cameras, to ensure the inspection of all surfaces of the material.
The system comes in two versions: AlpSDDS-C designed for use with materials whose intrinsic temperature is below 750°C and AlpSDDS-H aimed at materials that can reach temperatures of up to 1200°C.
At last, the system is completed by a processing unit and a user interface that displays the results of the elaboration process highlighting the defects through specially coloured fields subdivided into related categories. Furthermore, an interactive user interface is available for the initial training phase of the neural network and its subsequent fine tuning.
