AlpAFS is an advanced automated tapping control system that uses a network of specialized cameras to monitor the flow of steel. A sophisticated algorithm analyzes this data to accurately determine the optimal tilt of the furnace bath. This innovative AI-based solution is designed to operate without the need for direct human intervention, in line with our philosophy of ensuring an operator-free environment in the field.

AlpAFS is our automated, Artificial Intelligence-based system that uses advanced Artificial Vision techniques to identify the critical events needed to generate the appropriate outputs, ensuring optimal and automatic management of the tapping sequence. The system has a sophisticated hardware architecture and multiple software layers designed to ensure both speed of execution of algorithms and accuracy of evaluations. This ensures consistency and consistency of input and output information. The entire architecture is designed, developed and installed with the goal of providing high reliability, even in handling dangerous processes. The proposed solution can be installed as an additional technology module on the iba platform.

How it works

AlpAFS makes use of a series of cameras that detect the pouring of steel into the ladle and, through specific algorithms, determine the flow rate, which, transformed into kilograms per second, represents the amount of steel presumably present in the ladle, the filling level of which is verified by other cameras that cross-check. In an environment of significant disturbances, such as heat, fumes, dust and mechanical stress, AlpAFS's thermal imaging cameras demonstrate extraordinary effectiveness and maintain consistent and reliable image quality.
